Position Summary

Analyzes and solves quality problems, prepares inspection plans and instructions, selects sampling plan applications, prepares technical procedures, trains inspectors, and applies fundamental statistical methods for process control and analysis. Understands and interprets design sheets, read drawings, inspect heaters per final inspection sheet, design sheet, and Manufacturing Specifications, plans and performs product and process audits, reports areas being done especially well, requests corrective action when appropriate. Trains final inspection and completion of quality records including special tests and first article inspections for production lines. Trains new inspectors and associates on use of measuring devices, quality procedures and techniques.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares and conducts studies to analyze and solve manufacting quality problems with the use of fundamental statistical methods of process analysis and control.
  • Selects the appropriate statistical methods and sampling plans for inspection of products and studies of capability.
  • Prepares technical procedures for calibration, use, and evaluates adequacy of inspection equipment and application.
  • Trains inspectors to prefom inspection procedures, and use of inspection equipment.
  • Audits to determine system adherance to ISO9001 and adequacy of quality systems.
  • Audits the preventive and corrective action system to verify completeness and effectiveness for root cause evaluation. Suggests changes to improve adequacy of system.
  • Reads and Interprets mechanical drawings of raw material and finished product. Inspects to those drawings and understands machining operations.
  • Aids in the development of inspection plans.
  • Other duties and special projects assigned.

Education

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Further studies in mechanical/technical or Quality Assurance areas is prefered

Experience

Four years of experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 3 years in Quality.

Two years of experience in manufacturing and ASQ Certificatied Technician.
